Transition Strips FAQs
How do I know what transition strip I need?
- T-molding connects floors of roughly equal height. This transitions strip is most common in doorways.
- Reducer transitions between floors of different heights. Usually, you want the reducer to match the design of the taller flooring.
- Quarter round or wall base finishes edges along walls or cabinetry. This is often used to hide the expansion gap.
- Stair nose provides a safe, finished edge for steps. Not to be confused with a stair tread, stair nosing is only for the edge of a step.
Will the transitions and moldings match my flooring exactly?
Every effort is taken to match transitions and moldings to the flooring designs, but because these are produced differently and made of different materials an exact match is unlikely. Allure transitions and moldings are visually hand reviewed by our designers before being approved for sale.
How long does it take to receive my transition strip, and can I return it?
We sell 46 inch transitions that are stocked in our warehouse and usually ship in a few days. In stock transitions can be returned like any other Allure flooring product. Special order transition strips (94 inches) are made to order, take several weeks to fulfill and are not returnable.
